Sometimes a family heirloom just doesn’t jive anymore with your decor. Back in the 90’s, she had the buffet and hutch bleached to match her then current decor. For those of you following along, you know that I previously painted the china cabinet and then the sideboard , then the mirror and added some painted sconces. I’m leaving the table top in it’s original finish for contrast. My friend always asks me why I distress pieces and my answer is quite simple.

Now our house is going to be on the town house tour this Christmas, I’m in a mad rush to finish things and have decided that I’ll need to make some drapes to get what I want. I’ll get to it once we finish the front vestibule project.But there’s a curtain hanging in the window in this picture. By the time I decided that I did actually want drapes there, it was too late.
